[ About me ]

I am a composer, theatre artist, and writer based in Berlin, previously working in the field of theoretical biophyics. I'm interested in the relationship we have with what we call Reality — and in how it can be creatively approached, moulded, pinched, expanded, and twisted.

My thematic work explores this relationship directly. In Proper Time, we guide the audience through a sequence of rooms, each exposing them to a different sensory and narrative experience of time. In Sojourn, I ask what happens to the self when it is defined purely by the value of adventure and excitement. In Arrivals, I explore what happens to imagination, memory, and emotion under an extreme slowing of movement — and therefore of personal time.

This work is supported by what I call my technologies of the self: a body of exploratory practices aimed at producing a novel — but embodied and felt — relationship with reality. One of these, Still Flow, induces a non-dual state through sustained, slow, unintentional movement, and is particularly suited to stage work. I am also a student of Michael Chekhov's techniques of the imagination. In my current research project, Befindlichkeit und Gestimmtheit, I am developing a methodology for altering states of being in composition and performance.

My intellectual work centres on how cosmologies shape the way we live. By cosmology I mean the unconscious assumptions we hold about how the world works and what our place in it is. I am currently developing a number of tools that are intended to help one embody and "try out" different cosmologies.
